March 20, 2024 Day 20, 2024 On to Brisbane.. Last day    We left Noosa early and made our way to Brisbane. We had one last full day, and we were going to spend it in Brisbane, as we all were leaving through this airport. After dropping off our daughter's partner off at the airport for an early flight, we decided to see the Morenton Bay down by the Port of Brisbane. The bay lies just north of Brisbane , near the suburb of Manly. It is a mostly residential area, with a fine esplanade that follows the edge of the bay. We walked along the parkland and found a small cafe to enjoy breakfast.  After breakfast we headed towards the centre of Brisbane to do part of the river walk. We parked near Stanley Street which is on the upper half of the walk. The weather was bright and warm and I had to remind myself that I would soon be heading home to single digit temperatures. Brisbane's river walk is beautiful. The path leads to New Farm, an area a few kilometres from the city centre. At the

March 19, 2024 Day 28: Last Day in Noosa It is our last day in Noosa. The weather remained unpredictable, and there were showers early in the AM. We had no definite plans so in a way the rain did not interrupt anything.  We started our day with a walk back to Dolphin Point. Even at 10 AM the weather was hot and sticky. The Coastal Walk has become one of my favourite walks. Even when you are joined by many on the path, you can lose yourself in the sights and sounds. We stopped first at Tea Tree Bay. It was here that we finally found a kookaburra who was willing to stop and pose for a picture. In fact we ran across three of them at the bay. The palms and tea trees are marvellous and I always enjoy seeing some fungus. The viewpoint from Dolphin Point is incredible and one I will remember for awhile. After lunch, the rain came down quite heavily so we decided to play a little Rummikub. If you haven't played, you should. I won one of four, and I am always game to take on any challenger

March 18, 2024 Day 27: Golf in Noosa The rain came came to Noosa last night and continued on into the morning. When I tried to go for coffee around 7AM, the rain poured down. It seemed at that point that our plans for golf would be put on hold. Luckily, the rain eventually let up and we were able to get out for a bit of a walk around 9:30 AM.  We strolled down the beach boardwalk and made our way out to Noosa Spit. When the rain passed, the sun emerged and the heat and humidity returned. Our walk this morning took us through the shade of Noosa Woods , which was a welcome relief. As always, we got to see some great sights both on the water and land. Here are a few highlights :     The glorious coastline of Noosa One hungry bird A huge pandarus tree in the woods The Noosa woods path Morning Glory at the beach We walked for about an hour and when we returned,  it was time to cool down.  Instead of taking another shower, I opted for a dip in the pool here where we are staying.   March 17, 2024 Day 26: St Patrick's Day in Noosa Today I donned the green and enjoyed a warmer than usual St Pat's Day here in Noosa.  We had a quick bite this morning and made our way on a 6 km walk to Hell's Gate, a point at the end of the Costal Walk through Noosa National Park. As it had rained in the night, the track was a bit slick and muddy in parts. Past Tea Tree Bay, where I had ventured yesterday, there are some beautiful overlooks, or vantage points. The boardwalk eventually turns to a well marked path, and at points it goes right along the edge of the cliffs. Another reason for the walk was hopefully to see koalas. We later learned after the walk that the koala population has greatly declined. There are two major reasons. First, koalas have been hit by diseases and. the numbers in this area have been reduced by half in the last decade. Another are dog attacks, and the stress dogs have brought upon the population. Despite not seeing any koalas, the walk was ano
