Day 27: Golf in Noosa
The rain came came to Noosa last night and continued on into the morning. When I tried to go for coffee around 7AM, the rain poured down. It seemed at that point that our plans for golf would be put on hold. Luckily, the rain eventually let up and we were able to get out for a bit of a walk around 9:30 AM.
We strolled down the beach boardwalk and made our way out to Noosa Spit. When the rain passed, the sun emerged and the heat and humidity returned. Our walk this morning took us through the shade of Noosa Woods , which was a welcome relief. As always, we got to see some great sights both on the water and land. Here are a few highlights :
The glorious coastline of Noosa
One hungry bird
A huge pandarus tree in the woods
The Noosa woods path
Morning Glory at the beach
We walked for about an hour and when we returned, it was time to cool down. Instead of taking another shower, I opted for a dip in the pool here where we are staying. The water is just cool enough to do the trick.
Around 1 PM, we made our way to Noosa Springs Golf and Spa. The skies had cleared and we were on for nine holes of golf. Playing a round of golf here in Australia was on my "to do" list. The course was very lush and green. Despite the rain, the fairways were well drained. However any shot hit into the rough was sure to find substantial water. The course is lined with various types of palm trees and we did encounter the Australian darter, which looks similar to a cormorant. I also ran across a rather large snake, that I believe was a red bellied black snake. It was in a watery part of the rough , and I immediately decided to stop looking for my ball. As for my golf, I was a little surprised how well I drove the ball. However the rest of my game was not so good. It was a great afternoon, and a huge rose of the trip.
Our evening meal was delightful, and then we strolled the streets of Noosa to end our night.
