Day 28: Last Day in Noosa
It is our last day in Noosa. The weather remained unpredictable, and there were showers early in the AM. We had no definite plans so in a way the rain did not interrupt anything.
We started our day with a walk back to Dolphin Point. Even at 10 AM the weather was hot and sticky. The Coastal Walk has become one of my favourite walks. Even when you are joined by many on the path, you can lose yourself in the sights and sounds. We stopped first at Tea Tree Bay. It was here that we finally found a kookaburra who was willing to stop and pose for a picture. In fact we ran across three of them at the bay. The palms and tea trees are marvellous and I always enjoy seeing some fungus. The viewpoint from Dolphin Point is incredible and one I will remember for awhile.
After lunch, the rain came down quite heavily so we decided to play a little Rummikub. If you haven't played, you should. I won one of four, and I am always game to take on any challengers.
I did get out for an afternoon coffee. There is a real coffee culture here in Australia. You will not find many Starbucks, but you will find a lot of small local cafes and coffee shops. It has taken me a bit of time to get used to, but I do enjoy a "long black " with a bit of milk. It is essentially 2 - 3 shots of espresso topped up by hot water. It is like an americano. The coffee is usually very good, and usually strong. I just wish the had a "grande" size.
I loved enjoying my coffee by the beach and today I had a very curious visitor. I have mentioned the brush turkey before. They are all over Noosa. They usually just keep their distance, however this one seemed a bit more brave or at least curious.
We went for one last swim and later in afternoon, we did get a sighting of dolphins. Bottle nosed dolphins are common in the area. They swim in pods and will venture close to shore where the surfers hang out. I took a screen shot from a video, as videos don't seem to load here. Dolphin is on top left. It in now way does it justice unfortunately.
For our last dinner here in Noosa, we went to Bang Bang , an Asian Fusion restaurant. The meal was outstanding. We sat outside, which is wonderful and enjoyed about five shared dishes. We had roti, Korean fried chicken, spring rolls, cashew chicken , a beef curry dish, pork belly and pineapple pie for dessert. It was a fun way to celebrate our last night here.
We have really enjoyed our time here in Noosa. It was a great place to relax and enjoy the sun, warmth and surf. Not even the rain could ruin the fun. Tomorrow we are off to Brisbane for our last day before returning home.
